Working without overexertion, yet not cutting corners: The administrative work style I found

Currently, I am working in the staffing industry, performing clerical tasks like data entry. I am working part-time within a sales company, handling administrative duties.

Specifically, every day the sales staff make appointment calls to various facilities and kindergartens, asking if they need personnel, and if they get a response like 'We need this kind of person,' they input that information into the internal system. I then input the cases brought in by the sales staff into a system for posting job ads, and ultimately, post jobs on various job sites like Indeed and Hatarakoneetto.

To be honest, it wasn't so much that I was interested in staffing, but rather that clerical work like data entry, where I could work at my own pace, seemed to suit my personality, so I applied. My previous work history has only been in clerical or administrative roles, so I had a strong desire to work in an office environment. Well, I'm in my 9th year as a working adult, and since graduating, I've had experience in various types of clerical work in different industries, such as sales administration, trade administration, and real estate administration.

Well, even if it's part-time or contract work, you can't just do the job passively. Since you're getting paid, you need to do a job that matches that. It's difficult, but without overdoing it or having to work extremely hard, I feel a sense of responsibility to do a job that matches my salary.

There is a job that requires a lot of attention and care, and that is when posting jobs, I try to write as detailed as possible about the work environment of each care facility or kindergarten. Even within the same type of facility, such as a kindergarten or care facility, the staff members are completely different, so I try to write in detail, within my knowledge, about the age range and gender ratio of the staff, so that job seekers can get a rough idea of the work environment when looking for a job.

I myself have worked as a clerical worker on a temporary basis before, and I have had several opportunities to look at job postings from other temporary staffing agencies, and at those times, I found that it made a big difference to know that there were other temporary staff members working there, even if it was just a mention, rather than just a list of job duties, so I try to incorporate that experience into my work.

Even though everyone is looking for a job, I often overhear sales people talking on the phone with job seekers, and it seems that many temporary workers have circumstances such as child-rearing or caregiving, and even if they want to work full-time, they can't. So I would like to help such people find a job that meets their desired conditions, even if it is just a little bit.

In the course of my work, I have come to know that there is a shortage of caregivers in many facilities in the metropolitan area, and that there are various types of care facilities. When I first started, I copied and modified the job descriptions that the previous sales person had entered, but when I looked at the job descriptions that the previous sales person had entered, even though there were various types of facilities, they were all just bathing, eating, excretion, and physical assistance, and I wondered if this was enough, so I researched on the internet to find out what kinds of care facilities there are, and gradually came to understand the characteristics of each facility, such as the fact that special nursing homes for the elderly have a high proportion of people with high care needs, and group homes for the elderly with dementia or disabilities are facilities where they live together. I feel that my knowledge of care facilities has deepened more than that of my peers, and I think that was a good thing.

I don't feel a lot of pressure, but I work three days a week, and when I go to work every day, I basically look at the jobs that the sales person from the previous business day received and post them, but if the number of jobs received on the previous business day is close to 100, even though there is no quota, I feel a little bit of pressure to work with a certain sense of speed.

Since I am working part-time now, I hardly ever have to work overtime, so I am able to maintain a good work-life balance. I work three days a week for seven hours a day, so I am able to work without putting too much strain on my body, and when I have a day off during the week, I am able to take care of errands and go shopping, which is less crowded than on weekends, so I have more time to use effectively, and I think this is good.

I have worked in clerical positions in the past, and in sales administration and trade administration, Excel skills are often required, and when I worked for a foreign trading company as my second company, I had daily opportunities to use VLOOKUP functions and pivot tables, and I realized that I did not understand them, so I thought this was a problem and went to a computer school on my own initiative to relearn input from scratch, and finally, at the recommendation of my computer school teacher, I obtained a MOS, Microsoft certification.

I don't feel a sense of accomplishment when my efforts are reflected in sales performance, but I can see the information of applicants on a daily basis from the system I use, and when I see that someone has applied for a job I created, I think that they applied because they saw it, and I think it was worth doing.

Ideally, I would like to work full-time as a regular employee, but I have had mental health issues in the past, and if I were to relapse, I would have to work part-time, which would naturally result in a lower salary, but if I were to become unemployed again, my income would be zero, so to some extent, I am working for the money.

In five years, I will be in my mid-30s, and I have no idea if I will be married or have children, but if I do get married and have children, I would like to spend time with them, so I would not choose to work full-time. If I have children, I would like to be able to work remotely, even if only partially, using my experience and skills, until they reach kindergarten, nursery school, or elementary school age.

If I were to give advice to those who, like me, are aiming for a part-time clerical job, I would say that it is necessary to ask questions and clarify any doubts about the employment conditions at the interview or selection stage. I realized this when I worked for a previous company that had a description in the job posting that it was a long-term hire and that social and health insurance would be provided, but when I started working there, I found out that the maximum working hours per day were 6 hours and that I could only work up to 3 days a week, so I could not be enrolled in social insurance. I was actually laid off by that company, and while it is normal for the employer and employee to discuss the future of the employment contract one month before the end of the contract period, that company unilaterally told me, 'Your contract will end at the end of next month,' just before I started working. I learned that such companies exist, especially small ones, so if you want to work for a long time, it is important to clarify any doubts before you start working.
