Currently Balancing Data Entry with Freelance Entertainment Work

My main job is a part-time data entry job, and as a side job, I freelance in the entertainment industry. The job involves inputting data that can be sent to sales representatives before they provide job advertisement information, such as what kind of results we had or how people perceived it. My entertainment work mainly consists of modeling and occasionally acting.

It really started after I moved to Tokyo, kind of just going with the flow because I happened to get accepted. I've done a few roles like fainting in a horror piece, a wife's role, or a very short role as a police officer in a drama. I've had a bit of experience.

Previously, I was with an entertainment agency, but now I work through a casting company. Job offers come directly, and I send my information. If I get accepted, I can start right away.

Sometimes I think about quitting, but in the end, I continue because I enjoy it. I have a bit of a workaholic tendency. I've tried various jobs, but I realized I prefer the freedom over being a full-time employee. Without worrying about societal expectations, I think I can manage with this kind of job as long as I have a bit of money.

Since high school, I wanted to join the drama club, but my parents strongly opposed it. They sent me to a very serious school because they heard the other one had a lot of delinquents. I never really got the chance. Even as a child, I always wanted to be an actor. I didn't practice acting specifically, but I did take some modeling lessons, so I kind of went with my gut. It's not so much that it's interesting, but more like I can do it, so I keep going.

I've only done a couple, but the horror one was quite interesting. I played a wife's role and had to perform fainting and struggling scenes multiple times because I couldn't get it right. It was quite challenging. It was my first time, so it took a while to get it approved.

Being around a large group definitely makes me nervous. When I played a police officer, I was told to just stand there, but suddenly there was a line to deliver, which surprised me. I found it interesting how the norms in entertainment differ from regular jobs. It's a world where the common sense of regular jobs doesn't apply.

I was surprised that even if I could do the job alone, it wouldn't work out without communicating with my colleagues. I had never worked part-time as a student, and when I started as an adult, I was surprised at how work actually functions.

I'm more into the 2D side, and I've seen 2.5D stage performances. It's where stage actors cosplay anime characters, wearing wigs and contact lenses, mimicking the characters and performing original stage pieces. I'd like to be involved in that if possible.

I'd say... about 60% work and 40% private life.

The first one I attended by chance was an idol audition. I passed the first document screening, then the second, where I had to submit a self-introduction and PR video on YouTube. I got through that too. But I got a bit nervous for the final screening. There were about five girls left. I was told I might pass if I tried another audition, but I decided to give up.

I mentioned that I'm good at drawing and voice imitations. It was an idol audition for voice actors, so I talked about the lessons I've taken and did various self-PR. I just happened to attend a voice actor idol audition because a few people told me I have a good voice. I thought I might be able to make it, but I haven't done much yet. It's kind of a multi-talent approach.

I was scouted quite a bit by entertainment agencies, but I didn't join because it seemed tough, or because I wanted to stay with my parents and they thought I should quit entertainment. I was scouted in Harajuku, and after that, I started posting selfies and photos on Instagram, and I've been getting scouted here and there, even now.

I think it's important to continue doing what you're good at. Even if you think you like something, if you can't keep it up, it doesn't mean much.
